First established in 1936, Cheesmur has been based in Lewes, East Sussex and trading as Cheesmur Building Contractors since the 1960's. Cheesmur has continued to improve and develop its team and, as a consequence, continues to enhance its reputation in the marketplace.
We undertake projects from across a wide range of sectors, including residential, education, health, heritage, commercial, industrial and leisure, as well as a number of term planned and reactive maintenance contracts, with a significant proportion of our turnover negotiated or secured on an open book basis.

Cheesmur have successfully constructed many high quality residential projects for domestic and private clients, developers and registered providers. These have been delivered via both traditional and design and build contracts. We have excellent relationships with many of the registered providers of affordable housing across the region and are firmly committed to successfully partnering with all clients.
Cheesmur have particular experience and expertise in working in sensitive situations providing a service within occupied premises whilst minimising disruption to the end users and occupants alike. Full and detailed assessments and working method statements are researched and prepared to fully protect the health, safety and security of staff, visitors, site operatives and the general public.
We acknowledge that educational establishments are working communities and always liaise closely with them to ensure that we work within the constraints of the academic programme.
Health, safety and security are key issues around the entire site and by working closely with the end users to understand their key drivers we are able to concentrate fully on programmes and work methods which minimise disturbances during teaching and exam periods and ensures that disruptive work is programmed at less sensitive times.

With considerable experience in the health sector, including works completed for a number of private clients, Cheesmur have worked closely with a number of local health authorities and hospitals. These projects have been provided as part of a Framework as well as through negotiation and traditional single stage tendering.
