A Slate roof is the longest lasting roofing material you will find on a domestic roof in the UK. Some Slate roofs We have removed have been on the property from the day they were built, more than a hundred years ago. And in quite a lot of cases We have been able to salvage in the region of 75% that are more than good enough to be put back onto the roof when We undertake a reroof to the property.

What then tends to happen is the survey will cover anything and everything to cover themselves from any future issues and a potentially disgruntled buyer.
No, not at all. Slates can quite easily be put back into their original position and fixed in place using lead tabs. It seems like your eaves are missing or broken in areas. There are 2 ways of dealing with this problem. You can install plastic eaves trays beneath your existing 1st course of slate, or your roof needs to be stripped out in a 'v' section to allow access for new slate eaves to be reinstated to your roof.

Darren and the team came to the house to quote up on some issues found in our survey on purchase, not only was he reasonably priced but more than willing to advise us on things that needed doing.
His honesty and professionalism were brilliant and he explained that some things noted in the survey weren't essential work to be required. He repaired multiple issues with our chimneys and replaced some slates.
Although the weather made it difficult on occasion, he kept us informed of progress and when he would be free to do the work.
I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Darren and the team to anyone

Darren was very responsive when I called to arrange the work. He organised for Tom to repair the gutter, who turned up on time and sorted the problem. It was difficult access to the roof over a conservatory but he found a way to complete the works. Much appreciated and highly recommended on price and customer service.

I had a leak on both chimneys on our new house and Darren responded quickly efficiently and was very good value- extremely competitive
I really appreciated the clear explanation of what was was wrong and what was required -he delivered this in a friendly non-patronising way
He did the repairs with lead during really awful weather conditions, was constantly good humoured and I got detailed updates- Bad weather did not phase him.

Darren was professional and patient, taking the time to explain things for me. He took videos while on the roof as well, to help show me where the issues were. I felt we were in good hands.
The repairs were completed to a high standard. He also kindly corrected a few pointing issues we had while carrying out the repairs.

First class job at a very competitive price. We'd had 2 previous roofers look at it and "fix" it but they didn't find the actual problem, so it continued to leak. Darren of DMRoofing spotted it straight away, explained what the issue was and sorted it quickly. A big thank you for an excellent job done properly and professionally.
