Services
Although we don't stock Adhesives or Grouts at our Clifton Stone Showroom we are happy to advise on using these materials to ensure a smooth installation. Depending on the stone you buy, we can sometime supply these products with your order. We recommend using Ardex grout as there is a comprehensive selection of colours to choose from to ensure you get the right match for your stone.
The Riverstone is sourced straight from the riverbed, the basalt boulders and pebbles originate from the active Marapi volcano in Central Java. They are washed down the river during the rainy season by torrents of water, before becoming lodged downstream. The boulders are then collected and polished to give an internal smooth finish.
Many people believe that installing a stone floor is expensive and difficult. In fact, if you invest in planning and selecting your stone floor, it can be easily laid by a specialist or your builder and in some cases can even cost less than fitting carpet. Stone is easier to maintain than a wooden floor and will last a lifetime.
Consider the size and shape of your room. Depending on the size, colour and format of the stone tiles you choose, you can make a room appear larger, longer or lighter. Consider the style of the room too. Is it traditional or contemporary? Stone can be supplied in a number of different textures and finishes such as antiqued or honed so chose one that works with the age and style of your property.
Here at Clifton Stone we have a wealth of experience and can help you select the right stone for your project. We have found these to be the most frequently asked questions. Please check with your builder exactly what type of screed is used as the fixing method does vary according to whether it is clementitious or anhydrite (calcium sulphate) based.
