In 1908 a young teenage entrepreneur by the name of Clifford Proctor Blackburn began selling off cuts and rolls of Linoleum from Leicester Market until he entered the army in 1914. His Father William took control of the business which became a registered company in 1938 and had sucessive premises in Churchgate, the High Street in the City centre and Highcross Street.
