From 1995, hmh architects comprised two partners, Andrew Watson and John Kinmond, both Architects with a highly trained, technical background having both worked for the practice since 1987 and 1977 respectively. Commissions span all building sectors, and include both new build and refurbishment. Many of our commissions are referrals and repeat appointments from our diverse portfolio of clients of many years standing.
We specialise in bespoke supported housing developments working closely with end users, operators, carers and families. Developments range from Extra Care housing schemes for the elderly and infirm, to safe and secure environments for vulnerable adults, shelters and refuges as well as homeless accommodation.
Our lineage as a continuing practice can be traced back to E D Jefferiss Mathews OBE a notable architect and Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA). He was appointed OBE before 1953, and is a former Vice President of the RIBA in 1953-55, Honorary Treasurer 1956-59 and 1963.

Services
We believe good architecture is underpinned by attention to detail. Our philosophy is driven by a strong technical understanding and an approach founded in design and detailing from an early stage. We are committed to providing a personal partner-led service, and are determined to develop a close, creative dialogue with the Client and all members of the project team.
We pride ourselves in creating a good working environment and encourage the development of skills in our staff. Training and continuous professional development are actively promoted through in-house seminars and external courses. Our staff are motivated and committed to provide a service to our clients they can be proud of, and one of a standard which is expected of an RIBA Chartered Practice.
We are dedicated to the design, detailing and delivery of quality buildings, taking pride in our meticulous approach throughout the design process. We offer a personal, partner-led service to all clients, with the commitment to develop a close, creative and collaborative relationship with all members of the project team.
Building Information Modelling (BIM) is the process of creating and managing both 3D (model, drawings) and 2D information (schedules, specifications) throughout the buildings lifecycle. A key output of the process is the Building Information Model, co-ordinated with the client, design team, contractor and end user, to create a 3D representation of all aspects of the building.
