Rumbold-Ayers landscape designers, specialists in garden design and residential landscape architecture. We are professional landscape and garden designers, serving domestic and commercial clients, architects, self-builders and developers throughout the South of England and further afield, from our base near Salisbury, Wiltshire.
We don't have a specific "house design style". Rather, we believe a garden should reflect your own stylistic preferences, the architecture of your home, and the characteristics of the site and it's setting in the wider landscape. Hence, we are equally comfortable with a contemporary, classical or country cottage style.
Indeed, one of the primary functions of a well designed residential garden is to help a house blend into it's surroundings, and so the house is almost always the starting point for the evolution of the garden design. Our services extend from advice and documentation in support of planning applications, through conceptual design, to planting plans and detailed design specifications, and tendering.

Services
Rumbold-Ayers is a landscape and garden design practice, based near Salisbury, Wiltshire. We are a limited company with a small core staff, but we work with a network of professionals trained in related art, design, technical and environmental fields, both within the UK and abroad, to provide a comprehensive service.
We will be joining the regular cohort of architects at the monthly RIBA Ask-an-Architect day, to offer you a free personal consultation in a strictly no obligation meeting. To be sure of your FREE place we recommend you pre-book by calling the NSBRC team on 01793 847 400. We will be present in the Expert Area on all three days for informal discussions about your building or landscaping project.
We have compiled a selection of Rumbold-Ayers' most recent garden design projects in Wiltshire. The site lies within the "greensand hills" landscape of the Vale of Wardour - an area characterised by small, rounded hills interspersed with stream and river valleys, a large proportion of woodland, and mostly small, irregular fields bounded by hedges with hedgerow trees.
The client company was planning a major office space expansion and, following the success of our earlier wildlife-friendly landscape design (see below), decided to include a suitable native planting scheme as part of the project. Rumbold-Ayers were appointed by the client's consultants Darwin Ecology to detail the proposed native tree, shrub, and perennial planting around the periphery of the site.
The site is a corner plot in a leafy cul-de-sac of large houses, with a narrow road frontage and constrained by tree preservation orders covering about half the total plot area. The replacement dwelling is contemporary in style, but designed to reflect the general form of the neighbouring houses, and includes a below-ground double garage.
