Situated near Beauly, Inverness-shire; Torran Lodge is a prestigious new holiday retreat that promises visitors a warm welcome and comfortable stay; irrespective of the weather. The brief was to ensure that this 800 square metre, high specification build had the most efficient and comfortable underfloor heating system to cope with the North of Scotland's sometimes extreme weather conditions.
A self build housing project is usually a very stressful event, there are a thousand and one different things you have to deal with and make decisions on. Most companies you have to deal with are just wanting to sell you something and have no interest in how it is installed or if you are happy with the performance of their product.
This is particularly relevant to underfloor heating due to the difficulty in correcting mistakes once it has been installed. This is why all Optimum's specifications and quotations are based on accurate room by room heat loss calculations. All design work is indemnified and guaranteed without limit of time giving the customer complete peace of mind.
Underfloor heating in the UK is now widely accepted as the most desirable way to transfer heat into your home or workplace. Our experience was extremely poor. Optimum designed an underfloor heating system with boiler integration for our plumber to install and provided drawings, the underfloor system itself and the main pump. The system was installed in 2013 as per drawings but it had major problems. It frequently sent 70degC water to the underfloor system (photos available) rather than max 40degC. The mixing valve (a crucial part) supplied and controlled by Optimums iCon programme did not work correctly. As a client all I wanted to achieve was a functioning and safe system. After 18months Optimum left the job stating

From start to finish our experience with Optimum Underfloor Heating was brilliant. Rory was incredibly helpful and always there to answer questions despite us being located in London and Optimum being located in Inverness. The delivery of the system / pipes was swift, the plans were perfect and everything was simple and straightforward. I would not hesitate to recommend Optimum to anyone, anywhere in the country!

We have had underfloor heating for last 12 years by Optimum. Rory and his team from Optimum are always available and will respond to our calls. On their advice, we have upgraded our system to Salus system and again they have been extremely helpful. If you are building your home, consider underfloor heating and consider Optimum. They give a wonderful, professional service. I highly recommend them.

We would highly recommend Optimum to anyone who requires underfloor heating. From the first time we contacted Rory regarding the heating system for our new property he explained all that was required and prepared the design completely. The system was fitted by our plumber Fergus Robertson who works closely with Optimum. When the building was finished Rory visited us and set the whole system up and explained everything in detail to us. We now have a quality product at a very reasonable cost. We would recommend Optimum to anyone who is contemplating underfloor heating.

Optimum Underfloor Heating installed the underfloor system in our house extension, and we are completely satisfied with how the job was handled.
The installers worked closely with the building team and also achieved seamless integration with the existing radiator fed circuit in the original part of the house. After commissioning, Rory helpfully called round to clearly explain the system and its operation. We've now opted for the wireless remote app. and are delighted at the simplicity of operation.
Would highly recommend them.

After 20 years use decided to overhaul 2 Ivar UFH manifolds with new actuators/motors, open/close valves and glass flow meters.
Rory was on hand to provide all the parts and any advice.

Yesterday we installed a wireless, Salus Quantum underfloor heating control system. The stylish, slimline room thermostats were quickly installed and being wireless they afforded greater choice of placement. Attached by magnet to the wall also means you can detach the thermostats to fine-tune and over-ride settings. Alternatively, the SALUS App that controls the entire system is both intuitive and functional with clear graphics that allows you to quickly navigate any changes or adjustments you make to any part of your system. Very comprehensive
