W. Swindells & Son (roofing) Ltd have over 125 years experience in roof slating. We have undertaken numerous projects using new Welsh Penrhyn/ County slate, Spanish Cupa slate, Chinese Fesco slate, Brazilian Barcamp slate, Burlington Westmoreland & blue/grey slates, Marley Eternit fibre cement slate, various man made slates and various reclaimed slates.
W. Swindells & Son (roofing) Ltd carry out new roof tiling works along with strip & re-tile works. We carry out tiling works using all major manufacturers tiles such as Marley Eternit, Monier 'Redland', Cemex 'Russell roof tiles', Sandtoft, Forticrete and Quinn roof tiles. Tiles range from large format concrete/ clay tiles to concrete / clay plain tiles and handmade tiles.
For demanding bespoke works we have specialist lead men who are able to carry out lead welding for details such as lead dormers and flat roofs. We have recently carried out projects using lead substitutes, which have recently come to the forefront due to problems with vandals and theft. These substitutes such as Monier's Redland Rapid flashing and Ubbink Ubiflex come complete with guarantees.
Roofs have primarily been used to keep out weather, active roofs are now required to provide electricity, hot water and heating to buildings over which they stand. The products which provide these services include Photo Voltaic (PV) and Solar Thermal modules, micro wind appliances and a host of other clever gadgets.
We are one of only a handful of roofing contractors who have experience in shingle roofs. Whilst there is only a small market for shingle tiles throughout the UK we have recently undertaken a large project of over 2000m2 of John Brash fire rated Cedar shingles. This project was for the prestigious 'Booths supermarket' chain and such was the quality of work involved has been put forward for a NFRC award.
