Fibreglass roofing consists of a single layer GRP laminate applied in situ over a good quality OSB board. The roof is finished with pre-formed GRP edge trims and a coat of pigmented topcoat. As the layers break down, the roof eventually leaks. It does not require heat unlike bitumen based systems, eliminating the risk of fire associated with gas fired boilers.
Fibreglass is applied as one continuous surface, with no seams or joins where leaks usually occur. Because it is applied in one layer, it is less labour intensive and quicker to install than many other roofing systems. Being maintenance free, fibreglass roofing is very cost effective over the lifespan of the roof.
In proven applications, it has lasted over 30 years and the structure remains sound. Fibreglass can be used on a range of applications, including skylights, pipes, vents, stairs, wall and other roof structures. It can also be used for window casements, rooflights and patios, walkways, roof gardens etc.
