The build quality is exceptional, in-frame construction with traditional joints and solid wood on the inside of all cabinets, with wood carvings out of the solid. All woods are from sustainable sources including unusual figured woods such as Pippy/Burr Oak, Fiddle Back Sycamore, Swiss Pear, Cedar Of Lebanon, Native Walnut and the recently introduced paint finishes on solid hardwood.

Gareth's workmanship on this project was outstanding. He puts all of his pride and attention to detail into his work so that the end result is truly amazing. You'll not have a kitchen this good if you don't get Gareth to build it. Nothing is too much trouble and he is a pleasure to deal with.

Having spent many months searching online for our dream handmade kitchen, we became disillusioned with the same old conventional designs. However, persistence pays and whilst searching on google images we discovered Carved Wood Design. Apart from the wonderful designs we were intrigued by the limitless design options and Gareth’s attitude of giving us exactly what we wanted to suit our architecturally difficult house, rather than leading us to a more conventional design.

The first kitchen Gareth made for us was a stunning design in burr oak. When we moved house there was no question - we had to have another "Gareth" kitchen. The result was a completely unique and individual kitchen with curved cupboards and doors and bespoke carving - pics feature on the website. Gareth is much more than a furniture maker - he is an artist and a sculptor and his skill and passion are evident in everything he makes. All furniture should be made this way. I should also say he is a real gentleman and a pleasure to deal with.

Gareth made our fantastic bedroom furniture in 2013. After visiting his amazing 'showroom' we agreed a design for two wardrobes and a chest of drawers which he then created out of English oak and Cedar of Lebanon. Due to restricted access to the bedroom (small cottage) Gareth built the furniture in components and then finished the build in situ. Nothing was too much trouble for him... his only fault being working too hard and finishing up having his lunch at about 4 o'clock in the afternoon!

Gareth has been working with us on various projects in our property over a number of years. The latest works have involved the redesign of our kitchen.
The kitchen was originally designed by Gareth some years ago and we have loved it. We wanted to freshen it up and modernise it slightly, but didn’t want to lose the features that we loved so much in his original creation. It was also important to us that it remained in keeping with the farmhouse property.
We are absolutely delighted yet again with the result. The new parts blend seamlessly with the old and we have achieved exactly the end result
