Barber & Whale is an independent, local family run business which opened in 2014. Our store has a fantastic selection of the latest innovations in carpet and flooring styles. Not only do we pride ourselves on our customer service but our extensive product knowledge, Louise who works in the shop has almost 20 years experience in carpets and flooring and a very good eye for design.
As a company we invest heavily in training and our in house installers are trained to the highest possible standard in all aspects of floor preparation and installation. Over the many years our team have gained many NVQ qualifications as well as attending bespoke courses in the leading UK training providers such as Floorskills and FITA.

We had John in to fit carpet on our stairs and landing and it looks and feels beautiful. The original steps and floorboard were in a shocking state so he reinforced it all, then laid a substantial underlay. He and Louise are so helpful, without their experience and product advice we wouldn't have known that the Kersaint Cobb wool herringbone carpet we liked would be good for stairs, it looks very refined and really complements our recent staircase reno. We wouldn't go anywhere else for our floors now.

Excellent service quality carpets and the standard of fitting from John is superb. Without a doubt best fitter any of my family have seen. Well impressed with customer service many thanks to Louise and John for my dining room and lounge carpet last year, I had to delay stair carpet and they were very understanding. Stairs completed yesterday excellent job. I would 100% recommend this company thanks again.

Now that this has popped up on my phone I might aswell comment. They didn't complete the job, as floor fitter said he was ordering some beading to finish off the entrance. He said ,£40 which was taking my eyes out, but said yes to get job finished. Never got back to me as they had already got there money for the flooring. Was disappointed in customer service as put faith in them to complete the job. And went in to pay bill fully beforehand and was asked twice by owners brother if I'd paid the bill at a later date, didn't think it was very professional.
