Frith are selling rugs with exaggerated pile heights, hoping you won't notice. I ordered a custom area rug for almost £1,200 with an advertised pile of 18mm. After installing, I was disappointed it wasn't as soft and luxurious as expected, but it wasn't until measuring that I realized just how much I had been ripped off. Measuring the depth with a cocktail stick, penetrating the base, the overall height was just 12mm: one third shorter than advertised.

I chose a rug from clearance, was told is was the last in a range no longer available. When I got it home I discovered staining on the rug not visible in the rather poorly lit warehouse. It appeared to have been an attempt at cleaning marks on the rug. I returned the rug the next day, at my expense, and was treated shabbily by a member of staff. Have since emailed Mr. Andrew Frith only to have my complaint dismissed in a very unsympathetic manner.

Best day out I've had in a while. Well heated, would recommend for the elderly and vulnerable. Personally I'm quite the fan on the 'just chuck the piles on the floor, who needs shelves' approach. The staff are more bored than librarians, their eyes follow you round the industrial shed as if they expect you to steal a 60ft Persian rug (as if you'd want one?) Unless you're Fijian, maybe it would suit your vibe. Anyway, the Bodelwyddan branch is 100% my fave. Made memories to last a lifetime <3
