Services
We help you create the garden that perfectly fits your personality and lifestyle. At John Cusden Garden Design we take the time to listen and establish how you use your outside living space, how much time you have for maintenance, your aspirations, ideas, concerns and, of course, your budget.
We visit you on-site to discuss your requirements and explain the design process in detail. We want to hear your thoughts and it helps if you have a selection of pictures to illustrate your ideas. We then draw up a design brief off-site that is sent to you with a quote for the design work, to include stages 2 - 5.
Whether you want to redesign a border or breath new life into a tired flowerbed, our planting service lets you focus on specific areas of your garden. John Cusden's strong horticultural background and love of plants ensures great emphasis is placed on creating the best planting scheme for your site, one that suits your garden and your taste.
The planting areas around this country house lacked structure and year-round interest. Working closely with the young professional couple who own the property new planting plans were drawn up. Existing plants were fitted into the plans and moved where necessary. Winter structure was created by the inclusion of evergreen shrubs such as Euphorbia characias and the use of box balls, evergreen grasses and a number of standard Phillyreas.
The clients wanted a new bespoke terrace in front of their Arts and Crafts style house, with a central planting area of white flowers. The planting needed to have year-round interest as it can be viewed from the sitting room. A shady area near to the boundary needed a retaining wall, which was constructed using an attractive sandstone, sourced from a local quarry.
