Originally from Yorkshire, England, David studied at Chelsea College of Arts & Design, which led him into an area of specialism, augmented by many years studying and refining what was to become his own collection of furniture. Setting up workshops in London, led to commissions which found him travelling extensively around the world, creating unique interiors which showcased the exquisite pieces he had produced.
Mixing in the heady media world, David's talents were sought by celebrities and high-profile clients alike. A return to Yorkshire led to him setting up workshops and interior design studios. Gaynor joined David Long Designs four years ago, with a previous career spanning over 30 years in interiors, predominantly property development projects in London and the Middle East.
One high-end conversion project was short-listed for the Sunday Times Country House Award at that time and has recently appeared on television. Gaynor was awarded the Amec Shield for Best Building Technologist in 1995 and commendation for the Design Awards 2006.

Services
An extensive refurbishment of this modest property and its gardens left the clients shocked at what was achieved. The project started with one rooms and led to a full refurbishment. Initially the clients came to discuss soft furnishings for their bedroom. They were fully engaged with David and his ideas and made the decision there and then that this was going to be their forever home so why not spend the time to make it perfect for them.
We started off this project after lengthy consultation, by putting together booklets of styling ideas of different finishes and colours for the main architectural elements, flooring - timber and tile, doors, ironmongery, wall finishes etc. We gave numerous alternatives in different colourways and the different looks that would be achieved.
Further to a full redesign and structural work, we knew that getting the maximum storage into this space without it feeling cramped was key. A peninsular was added which housed the double stainless steel sink and dish washer. Having this area as the 'prep' area freed up a lot of other cupboard space around the perimeter for drawers and storage.
