Services
The costs will depend entirely on your requirements and needs which will form the basis for the brief (See design process) and also what already exists in the space. Hard landscaping such as walls, ponds, and patios are a lot more expensive per m2 than lawns and gravel. A large lawn and small patio will be a fraction of the cost of a large patio terrace and a small lawn, within a similar sized space.
Firstly we will discuss your needs and budget to help develop a 'Design Brief' which is a written framework of your needs, likes and dislikes. We will then develop an individual design based on creative solutions to the problems posed in the design brief. You will then be presented with the plan and a quote for the proposed works for your approval, along with samples of proposed hard landscape materials.
The challenge for this Plymouth yard was to provide a usable outside space to enjoy, that contained some grass and lush planting in a pretty bijou space. The garden is divided up into three areas defined by texture. This creates the illusion of space. Opposite the kitchen window and viewed from the lounge the raised planter creates a focal point and provides informal seating.
A formal pond was created with a waterfall behind and lights beneath, as a central feature viewed from the patio lounge doors. The raised bed runs behind the patio creating a feeling of enclosure, whilst the pergola provides height. A perimeter path was created with a number of features to provide interest.
The client wanted a family seating area and some definition between the drive and front door. Raised planters with oak tops were used to define a seating area, and provide informal seating. A new path defines the route to the front door. A row of multi stemmed small trees separates the path and screens the drive.
