A typical commission may include skills from all of the above. We often provide a complete service from targeting and tracking proposed contracts, through estimating and winning schemes, site remeasurement, planning and programming, progress monitoring and settlement of the final account. We are always interested to hear from engineers and quantity surveyors looking to work with us either full/part time or freelance.
If you are interested in working with us please contact us on the email opposite. We have a vacancy for an Engineer full time or part time - contact Tim Hunt or Lesley Rusling for details.

A substantial renovation and an extension were planned for a two storey residential property in Scarborough. The loft space was to be converted into a useable living area with two large dormer windows, rooms were to be opened up within the lower floors, and a new garden room and garage were added at the rear of the property.
We were asked to provide engineering guidance and design for this large residential property close to York city centre. It was a new development and we were involved at an early stage, providing a contamination report for the existing site. Following this we carried out the structural design for the building.
We were originally called to this site to carry out a survey to see if it would be possible to keep the existing structure and convert it into a domestic property. This we did and reported such. Three years later once planning permission was obtained we were asked to return and propose a remedial scheme to repair the existing cracking and prevent any future movement.
Our client came to us not only worried about the financial outcome of this project but concerned about his reputation in view of the negative press he was getting both with the public and within the employer's organisation. There were many stakeholders involved in this reorganisation of rail, bus, taxi and pedestrian traffic in a very busy city location.
The Highways Agency required an accurate cost estimate for a proposed river bridge replacement scheme in the north east of England. On this occasion our client was the managing agent contractor and design work was still continuing. We mobilised a team consisting of estimators, planners, engineers and quantity surveyors with a looming deadline for delivery.

We have worked with this company for nearly a decade. This involves a significant number of projects. There are many engineers available but these guys do not over design structure and know how to work on historic and existing structures without spending the clients budget in unnecessary over designed structural solutions.
Computer modelling is one thing, but nothing beats experience and a good understanding of existing fabric.
Proven great engineers when working as part of a professional team.

Avoid this company. Requested a Structural Report. I provided details of my concerns along with photos of affected areas. For £450+vat I was expecting a detailed, professional assessment. Instead I received a sparce report which simply repeated what I had already told the engineer. No detail or assessment at all. A complete waste of time and money (after chasing several times, it also took 2 weeks for report to arrive!). When I called for further information and clarification I was told I would have to pay more for further investigation. Save yourself the bother and just go elsewhere.

Quick to respond to an initial enquiry which was positive. However, from there and in brief my experience was as follows:
Failure to listen to my requirements in relation to my specific needs relating to the project in question.
When I pointed this out I did get an eventual response, after I had paid my bill as requested. The response was from an extremely unenthusiastic student who, when I e mailed again to request further information had left the company to continue with his studies. I was told my e mail was forwarded and had assumed therefore my questions would be answered, NO RESPONSE! The
