Wessex Restoration was established in 1996 as specialists in the replacement and restoration of timber sliding sash windows. Soon afterwards, we introduced our own bespoke joinery manufacturing facilities in order to keep up with the growing demands for traditional joinery services. Today, Wessex Restoration is a thriving company that offers a range of services encompassing fabrication, installation, replacement, refurbishment and replication.
We can manufacture and install period style timber windows and doors to your exact specification, and can even cater to any unusual or highly specific design requirements you might have with our bespoke joinery service. Based in Nailsea, North Somerset, we provide a bespoke joinery service for customers in nearby Bristol and across the South West.
We operate from our 10,000 square foot factory, with mobile workshops that take our professional joinery services across the South West. Using specialist equipment in our joinery workshop, we can create original pieces such as timber windows, doors, roofs and other mouldings to your exact specifications, as well as restoring period timber features.

At Wessex Restoration, we prefer to repair and renovate existing wooden windows, however sometimes this isn't possible. We manufacture new wooden windows, ideal for replacing existing windows in any style home. What sets our wooden windows apart is the detail. Period casement windows often feature decorative joinery on the inside, finished with an architrave and sill.
Wessex Restoration manufacture, supply and install period style external and internal doors that can be made using a variety of softwood and hardwood timber species such as oak, ash, redwood and pine. Styles include Medieval, Gothic, Georgian, Regency, Victorian and Edwardian with other build styles available such as ledged, ledged & braced, cottage and stable.
We design, manufacture and install fire rated timber doors for period properties. These external and internal doors comply with the Fire Safety Law without breaching heritage planning requirements, allowing them to be installed in listed buildings and conservation areas. Fire resistant doors and panels can significantly slow the spread of fire along a room or corridor, as well as reducing damage caused by the smoke and flames.

I called Wessex restoration to replace my front and back doors, as well as repair a sash window - they said the doors didn't need repaired, just re-hung and draught proofed. Unfortunately, I called them back out because they made the doors worse than they were. The front door doesn't sit in its frame properly anymore (I have no idea what that have done) and the back door was initially worse than it originally was - in fairness they "fixed" this, after I called them back, but I've discovered they've used sandpaper as some sort of packing agent in the door hinges - I only noticed this when I moved

1st class service and quality of work. We were asked to restore rather than replace 7 large sash windows on a grade II listed chapel in South Wales. Mark demonstrated great understanding on the first site visit that gave great confidence, provided a reasonable price for the work and now its complete I again have 7 working sash windows and a happy conservation officer.

Got a quote for window replacement last September and despite many calls and emails they fobbed me off telling me they would do the work. Over a year later I am still waiting for them to set a date. If you are not a big company with lots of money to spend Wessex Restoration are not interested. Very disappointed with the lack of customer service.
