Services
H & E Smith has been a specialist tile manufacturer and distributor since 1926. Originally established as Smith & Warrilow by William Henry Smith and his partner Ernest Warrilow. They specialised in the manufacture of refractory glazed fireplace tiles and later the manufacture of fine quality traditionally crafted English ceramic wall tiles.
Calais Plain Black Tile - These tiles evoke the charm of Northern France, with a beautiful colour pallete, incorporating both plain and patterned tiles. H & E Smith will be showcasing their NEW range of Encaustic Effect Glazed Porcelain Floor Tiles that they have named "The Capital Range" at the Surface Design show 2018.
Our Eco Glazed Brick Slip range is produced from recycled Welsh slate dust which is fired to form a 215x65x15mm brickslip, these ceramic tiles are then glazed and re fired to produce a durable and highly decorative product for external and internal applications. H&E Smith have been manufacturing our premium quality fireplace ceramic tiles for generations.
Anti-Slip Floor Tiles - When planning a floor, it is essential that you consider the purpose for which it will be used. When people are using the floor in a variety of conditions, it is vital that you consider the anti-slip properties of the tiles you select. The HSE specify the use of the "Pendulum Test" to assess the suitability of tiles.
Underground Tiles - H & E Smith have supplied wall tiles to London Underground since the mid 80s. Over this period we have supplied many bespoke tile designs, shapes and glaze effects to meet English Heritage requirements and the needs of LUL. In the gallery section below you are able to see examples of the vast range of tiles that we have developed and supplied for station refurbishment projects both large and small.
