The deadline for R22 phase out is fast approaching as an outright ban on all R22 usage comes into force in 2014.
In the UK it is estimated that 60% of the air conditioning systems currently in use are running on R22 refrigerant and the strong likelihood that any system over 10 years old will contain R22 and most of these systems are running normally however most repairs and servicing of air conditioning systems using this refrigerant will be problematic after 2014.The vast majority of these systems use up to an excess of 40% more energy than a new system.
