I was born in Sheffield and educated at King Edward VII School, Sheffield and following A- levels and a chance visit to the careers office in Sheffield I ended up studying for a part-time B.Sc. degree in urban estate Surveying at Trent Polytechnic, Nottingham which was a five-year degree course studied one day a week.
As the name suggests, this was back in the day before 'Trent Poly' became Nottingham Trent University and I have recently celebrated 37 years in the profession. I am married with two married daughters and two wonderful granddaughters to keep me on my toes. It is just as well that I have embarked on yet another diet and fitness routine to try to keep up with them.
Apart from my family, my pleasures in life are spending a couple of hours in my shed trying to 'engineer solutions', trying to get more or less half reasonable at riding a speedway bike and going on long walks with our Cavalier King Charles pup, Bentley. In my professional life, I have always tried to do my best for Clients.

We have developed a range of Surveys which can be tailored to suit individual requirements and needs and although we have general report formats, the design is such that we are not constrained by paragraph headings. We are always happy to try to give you exactly what you need within the framework rather than offering you a one size fits all approach and therefore compromising on what you need.
We carry out Schedules of Condition for intending Tenants taking on the Lease of commercial premises from a Landlord. The purpose of the Schedule of Condition is to provide a detailed, point by point description of any condition items noted within the property that would fall within the terms of a repairing clause to put right.
We are qualified and experienced and able to provide a range of Professional (Red Book) Valuations for a variety of purposes. These various purposes may include joint instructions from Solicitors or Accountants in respect of matrimonial or family disputes, probate or inheritance tax, capital gains tax where a Valuation needs to be provided at a previous date, family trusts and similar.

Absolutely flawless service
Myself and my partner has been in the market for the past few months to buy our first home together. We always intended to have a survey carried out on our purchased property so we asked for recommendations to which we were advised to go with Ashmore by multiple sources including our mortgage advisor and my previous estate agent who helped me sell my last property.

Brilliant from start to finish!
I'm a first time buyer so barely any idea of what to expect and what to look out for in properties.
In the pandemic, it was tough finding a 5* firm who could accommodate me within a reasonable timeframe without having to wait for 4 weeks!
I was recommended Ashmore Surveyors and so happy I did choose them!
Mike dealt with my case from start to finish. He was incredibly helpful, honest and so thorough when I had questions.
The report was detailed and far better than if I'd gone with another firm for a standard home buyers report.

I highly recommend Mike Cowley at Ashmore Surveyors Ltd to anyone who needs reassurance and professional help with a building survey at a fair price. He was a delight to speak to, so friendly and understanding. After appointing the company to undertake the task we were issued with the a document setting out the scope of works.
As first time buyer we had few questions and minor concerns about what the survey actually included. After raising these queries and on request for a copy of the companies insurance we were met with a less professional stance of which the company retracted there offer on the grounds that we hadn’t built up enough trust.

Brilliant service. From first enquiring about a survey the service was great. Given example survey reports to look through to choose a suitable one for ourselves. Once we had decided, the process was quick. Survey done on the Tuesday and report received the following Monday. Very informative and helpful especially for a first time buyer!
