Established in 2006, we specialise in contemporary, progressive design within the sensitive landscapes of National Parks and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We are a team of nine architects and designers in a practice that promotes discussion and collaboration to provide an exceptional design service from project inception to completion.
We undertake projects of all sizes, nationwide, including; high quality residential developments, commercial spaces, community buildings and leisure and tourism centres. This work is supported by our strong foundation in high quality domestic architecture for our discerning clientele. Our design information is of the highest quality, utilising modern techniques including virtual reality modelling and BIM.

We enjoy our work immensely & challenge ourselves with each new commission. We strive to deliver the best service we can with the majority of our commissions a direct result of third party recomendations from satisfied clients. We used the van Ellen and Sheryn practice as we had been impressed by a project they had completed on Dartmoor.

Having appointed Eilir Sheryn and his assistant Leon Bell as our architects on the design of a contemporary dwelling on a plot of land in Dorset, he listened to our brief and and was therefore able to present a design that was exactly what we required. We were extremely happy with the service we received from Van Ellen + Sheryn in extending our home. The team were very helpful and friendly throughout the process. Their plans were sympathetic to the existing building and worked very well with our limited budget.
We were particularly impressed with the way in which they enabled us to alter the configuration of our existing space, to maximise natural light. I would definitely recommend them to anyone considering altering or extending their home.

We enlisted van Ellen + Sheryn to renovate our cottage in Scotland.
After visiting the place twice with Frederieke and Eilir, they started working and interchanging ideas, always taking our concepts as a base. They came up with some pretty original ideas, which we were very happy with. They sensitively transformed this old stone cottage into a house suitable for modern living, while maintaining many of the characteristics. We were particularly pleased with how the new window openings changed our dark living room into a bright space. They dealt with the local authorities, consultants and contractors

Building a new village hall was a once-in-a-lifetime project for our community, so we chose VE&S from a short-listed panel because of their innovative designs and responsiveness to our brief. They delivered a carbon neutral building which has been admired by many other communities and is so much cheaper to run than our old hall, which was a third the size. It was a great pleasure to work with Eilir, Ian and the other staff.

I would highly recommend Van Ellen + Sheryn's architectural services. They designed my house as an extension of a 1960's bungalow to produce a beautiful, modern, spacious and very usable 4 bedroom family home. We received fantastic service for our Class Q Barn conversion! Eilir, Frede and the whole team were always available throughout the project and managed every aspect of it's design, interfaced with our builders on site along with all planning issues with the Dartmoor National Park. We now have a spectacular barn conversion to raise our family in one of the most beautiful parts of the country!

As a planning consultant I work with many professionals in the field. Van Ellen and Sheryn are extremely competent and caring. Their drawings are always well presented and their supporting computer graphics assist the planning process and their clients ability to engage with design choices. The practice is very capable at delivering one off projects for individuals or family businesses and equally well placed to support larger commercial projects.
