Turntable Furniture
We currently have a good stock of most items, the exception being those with the highest demand - larger divan-type beds, fridge-freezers and electric cookers. We will prioritise collection of these items over others. Due to stock levels, we are currently unable to accept ANY armchairs, flat-packed beds, or housewares, and are severely restricting intake of sofas.

Collections / drop-offs involving a large number of items also cannot be accommodated at present. Items can be dropped down to us 8am-12noon Mon-Fri only, but we may have to turn them away if unsuitable or we have sufficient stock; please bear with us in this - all charity shops are very full and are having to adopt the same strategy.

As ever, we politely ask that items are NOT selfishly left outside our premises whilst we are closed. This is fly-tipping, and is both hazardous and illegal; Turntable has to pay to dispose of such items - it might help you, but it hinders rather than helps our work. Please wait until we're open, or take items to your nearest Refuse Centre.
Services
Turntable is an Exeter-based charitable organisation that collects donated furniture, electrical items and carpets, that are in good, clean condition, free of charge, from the Exeter area, to pass on to families and individuals on very low incomes. All the items that are collected are put on show to allow people to choose what they need.
In the early 1990's the central churches in Exeter found that more and more people were asking for help in furnishing their homes. Ad-hoc arrangements were put in place to meet this demand but it soon became apparent that a more structured response was necessary. Project start-up funding was obtained from the Department of Employment which allowed Turntable to start operating in 1993.
The following graphs show how many families and individuals we have helped during the past year, and how we have helped Exeter City Council's recycling strategy in preventing so many items of furniture ending up in local land-fill sites. Retail outlets order items when stocks run low; we rely solely on donations and so are unable to do this.
We collect furniture, electrical items and carpets that are in good, clean condition, free of charge, from the Exeter area, with a view to passing them on to others, and preventing them from going to land-fill. We also accept small essential household items suited to those setting up home for the first time e.g.
Before contacting us to donate items, kindly read these notes to avoid any problems / misunderstanding that may arise with collection. To keep our costs to a minimum we collect from a majority of places once a week only, including districts within Exeter itself. We aim to do our collections within the time-window 9am - 2pm, but this isn't always possible.

They have been very supportive during unnormally difficult circumstances but have gone the extra mile for families in need. Both my son and I have been very gratefull for all they have done for us. If anyone has as any white goods that could be donated it would be most respected for families that could not afford what they require. Please don't hesitate to donate. Many thanks,
Emma.
