Keeping your chimney clear of blockages and soot minimises the opportunity for chimney fires to occur and reduces the severity of fires. The buildup of soot may also cause inefficient burning of the fire resulting in the production of carbon monoxide gas. Bird nests in the chimney are also a cause of chimney fires, this can be easily prevented by the installation of a bird guard on the chimney stack.
