Services
Weldon Stone was founded in 1977 by father and son team Derrick and Peter Dunn at the Weldon Stone quarry near Corby in Northants and extracted the remaining rare and beautiful Weldon Stone whilst developing the stonemasonry side of the business. Managing Director, Peter Dunn, trained as a master mason.
Standing in Measham, just off the High Street, St Laurence Church needed restoration and conservation. The Project was awarded to Weldon Stone Enterprises Limited by Peter Rogan Associates Limited. The East end windows needed new tracery, mullions, cills and conservation. The North and South aisle windows also needed new tracery, mullions, cills and glazing repairs.
The parishioners of All Saints Church were determined to return their Church to the heart of the community and make the building more useful to the residents of the village. To achieve this, they needed to address the fact that the Church was a rather cold, dark building with areas of rotten floor boards and fixed pews.
Since completing our first contract in 2000, Weldon Stone Enterprises have gone on to complete a further 6 phases of work on this large town centre Church. Most of the Church is built with a combination of local ironstone walling and Totternhoe Clunch dressings. Much of the work undertaken has been replacing cementitious mortar with lime mortar and cutting out and replacing perished stone.
