Booked and paid for a survey for a property we want to buy, all seemed good appointment was made promptly. Unfortunately we had to postpone the survey as our buyer had some mortgage issue. Which we told Scott and we were told that that is fine. Now, our buyer has his mortgage agreed and we try to re-book the survey for a month already but can't get hold of them. No answer on the phone lines, no answer to emails nothing, on the website is not even a complaints procedure. Now have to pay another surveyor to do the survey as I am otherwise losing that property. Of couse I am also now left with trying

First off, the surveyor was an hour late for the appointment, with no apologies. hardly said a word to me throughout his time here, which was a bit rude.
Secondly, much like the reviews on here and elsewhere suggest, they sit on the fence and give 'amber' for literally every aspect of the house, no greens, no reds. Despite some of items being only a few months old (driveway, boiler etc)
Thirdly, parts of the survey didn't even make sense, such as saying that
* the fire/fireplace in the lounge would need to be tested etc. (there are no fires or fireplaces in the house, let alone the lounge)

IF ONLY I COULD LEAVE A ZERO STAR REVIEW.
Received a quote via Really Moving, received an email from Scott Oke requesting confirmation of acceptance of quote which had an immediate response. No communication from Hugh James Surveyors despite leaving a voice mail, a telephone conversation and resubmitted detailed email response.
Certainly wouldn't recommend Hugh James Surveyors.

You get what you pay for. The report was okay but didn't respond to follow up questions

Very happy with this company and great value for money! A lot cheaper than others offering the same service.
Initially emailed to enquire on Friday 22nd May and the home buyer report was booked in the following Friday 29th May.
They advised the report would be back within 3-5 working days and as estimated the report did come back after 5 working days on Friday 5th June.
The report was extremely thorough and you can tell they spent a lot of time going over every nook and cranny in detail.
Very happy with the report however must say the communication could have been better as I sometimes went

Instructed Homebuyer survey and it was completed within 2 weeks. Communication with Emma/Scott was excellent, always a prompt response through email and very easy to book in and get updates.
Survey was carried out on a Thursday and the report was received the following Wednesday which was well within the turn around time promised.
Would highly recommend for future surveys etc

Making arrangements for a homebuyer survey was easy enough with just a nine day wait to carry out the job. However we are now ten days post-survey with absolutely no feedback as yet. There was a particular area of concern with the property so I emailed Scott to ask he take a closer look. Whilst I'm sure he will have done this anyway he did not respond to my email. The main office was quick enough to respond to my requests to get the report out to me but only to say when in the future it might be sent out.
My purchase has now fallen through although this has nothing to do with the survey but the

Scott and Becky were friendly and extremely helpful. They were easy to contact and quick to respond to messages and emails, even out of hours. They did everything possible to fit around us. Scott was very helpful, talking through all the details and offering advice. Would highly recommend their services.
