Pioneer Damp Proofing and Timber Treatments are based in Swansea and cover the local area, as well as Neath, Port Talbot, Swansea Valley and Llanelli. We are experts in identifying and treating any damp or timber issues in both commercial and domestic properties. Between us we have over 20 years experience in this field, and you can be sure you are in good hands with us overseeing any remedial treatments you may require in the home.

We specialise in domestic properties, we are non VAT registered, meaning you the customer gets the best service and price. We are a damp proofing company, first and foremost, this is our speciality, we can also carry out the associated building works, please keep in mind, we are not a building company who offers damp proofing, we are a damp proofing company that can carry out building work!
Services
Tanking is a damp proofing term used to describe an application where a wall suffering from water ingress is covered with a waterproof, water impenetrable coating. Usually it's a chemical based slurry, applied in conjunction with a waterproof rendering system.
Since the advent of the cavity wall, it's been standard building regulation to install a wall tie. The ties job is to ensure when the building moves, both the inner and outer leaf (wall) flex and move together. Like anything however, over time the ties can break and snap, wall tie failure can lead to cracking in the render and that can lead to water ingress.
Different to dry rot and much less destructive, wet rot is normally found where there has been a leak or water ingress. It's important to treat it as soon as possible as with the right dank humid conditions, wet rot can become dry rot. Dry rot is much worse and requires extensive treatment, wet rot can usually be treated in situ, with less effort.
Although called dry rot, it can only survive if moisture is present. More often than not leaks, dampness, lack of ventilation and water ingress due to building defects is the cause.in the right conditions, dank and humid areas such as sub floors dry rot can form, and spread very quickly and needs to be treated asap.
Although known as woodworm the insect is actually a beetle, there are 4 types here in the UK with the common furniture beetle being the most common, hence the name! The beetle will lay eggs so soft it migrates into the wood, from there larvae forms and chews its way to the surface, the larvae which looks like a small maggot will then hatch into the beetle which flys off looking to lay more eggs and keep the cycle going.

Having recently moved into a house that we believed to suffer from damp, we knew we had to resolve its issues. I was very fortunate to ring Dean & his advice over the phone was exceptional. He asked for some photographs for his to further assess the issue. He replied promptly and saved us £thousands as it appears to be a condensation issue with parquet flooring absorbing the moisture. We will need air bricks which he is coming to do. Dean is one of a small band of tradesman that are very honest & honourable. Please support him, because I will guarantee he will support you with your damp problems

We were well impressed with Dean, he gave great advice, spent a bit of time explaining what was wrong, he also offered some advice on a completely different issue, and he wouldn't take any payment. I would thoroughly recommend this company, seemed very genuine and honest.

Honest and professional. I have contacted this company on a few occasions and have been given advice without any charge. Other companies wanted to charge a substantial fee to do a survey but thanks to Pioneer I was able to resolve the problem myself.
Highly recommended and thank you so much for your kindness!

Recently purchased a property to renovate. Surveyor said property had rising damp and recommended "a property care association" contractor report. The report said the building had rising damp and gave costings to make good, very expensive ones.
Dean came around and examined the property, readings were high regarding water, but said it could be as a result of chimney and other issues. He gave advice which I followed.
it appears he was correct, saving me hundreds, or thousands according to PCA contractor prices. Dean has since given advice on other matters, although he still hasn't had a job from

Can’t RECOMMEND enough!!!!
Called upon Pioneer twice and on both occasions the advice given was that I did NOT need their services!!!!!
This was music to my ears as 2 previous quotes recommendations were to hack off and inject walls obviously with massive financial implications!!!
Thank you soooo much for your honesty on 2 occasions, it is refreshing to know that there is still honest tradesmen about who will go above and beyond to help you.
Thank you

Dean is fantastic. Contacted him about numerous damp problems in my home. Unlike other firms, he could have charged me for hacking off the plaster, damp proofing etc, but after a good look around he put together a plan for resolving the cause of the damp first. In fact he confirmed that what I was previously told was damp in the kitchen was actually condensation, saving me thousands in unnecessary work. To find such an honest reputable company these days is a god send and I would have no hesitation in recommending him or using him for any work I needed.

Dean is brilliant. He's been so helpful with everything I can only give him the highest recommendation. When something goes wrong in your home, it can feel overwhelming and it's hard to know where to start. Dean is not only knowledgeable, but caring about the situation. He is happy to take the time to explain things to you. I can't recommend him enough.
