How is condensation caused at home? Condensation is the main cause of black mould. More than half the homes in the UK suffer from condensation problems. Usually the mould grows on the coldest corners in the home. Most affected areas are outside corners, up a corner and the corner of ceilings. In high humidity mould can grow anywhere.
Steam is obvious but it becomes invisible water vapour almost instantly - steam from a kettle disappears but is still there as a gas. Unfortunately the water vapour moves around the home and condenses on cold windows, walls, leather and clothes when the house cools down each night. Every morning the steam from yesterday's shower is streaming down your bedroom windows and growing mould on your wallpaper, curtains and your children's shoes.
Latin name - anobium punctatum. Common name - furniture beetle. This is the most common house infestation and cuts flight holes 1-2mm in diameter in slightly damp softwoods. Most often infestation is introduced by homeowners putting infested furniture into a roof or cellar - hence the common name. Fresh granules or dust indicates activity as a mature beetle has recently emerged to lay eggs.

We definitely recommend this company. Jack and the team at Dampco have been out to us twice for damp course issues with our property. Both times the communication and workmanship has been brilliant. Their knowledge and advice has been invaluable to us and at a very reasonable cost. Look no further!

When a large water stain and running water appeared on a subterranean wall we were horrified. We had guttering reconfigured, drains tested, maintained a weather diary and even had a step lowered fearing ground water was somehow entering the house. All to no avail as we were unable to establish the cause of the problem.
We were then very fortunate that a neighbour recommended Dampco. Jack spent significant time patiently listening about all the work we had already had completed and carefully looking at all the factors. He gave us sound advice and recommended a course of action (that did not even

My wife and I moved into our second property, very excited from moving out from a flat to a “grown-up” house. This alone as most people are aware is hectic enough. But once we moved in we noticed a bit of damp in the basement . Not knowing what to do next, and expecting a large repair bill and drastically falling out of love with our new home. I called Dampco after being recommended to us by a friend, I first made contact with Jack, who visited our property and gave us a breakdown of what waterproofing/ waterproof treatments would be best suited. He also gave us some rough prices (much to our

Big thanks to Jack of Dampco, prompt response and timely visit we thought we had dry mould but couldn’t find the source we were advised to remove the kitchen cupboards and then book a chargeable return inspection, on Jacks return the source couldn’t be found but we had cleared whatever the problem was Jack did a quick look in the loft and check for damp but was kind enough to not charge us as it was a quick visit. Thoroughly recommend this excellent company.

I called Dampco to form a second opinion on a damp issue we are experiencing in our bathroom, from the moment we called; every person we had contact with was professional and really helpful.
When Jack, the surveyor came into our home, he was professional and friendly and gave a really comprehensive assessment of the issue, which actually turned out to be easily rectified with some small work we could carry out ourselves. Hugely honest, and didn’t cost us a penny.
This SAVED US ALMOST £2000, had we jumped in with the original quote he had from another “Cowboy”
...couldn’t reccomend DampCo

Over the last few years my business has worked closely alongside Dampco for all of their condensation control. We have found them to be extremely knowledgeable and professional in all aspects of their field and would recommend them to all of our customers. I have also used one of Dampco's units in my own home to cure a mold issue and couldn't believe how quickly it went away thanks to their advice. A brilliant local, family run business.

Professional and very friendly!
I had a problem with windows steaming up in the winter. One of Dampco engineers came to visit our home and survey it before installation of loft positive input ventilation system. After checking property, he suggested we should invest in washer/dryer and maybe small dehumidifier instead of investing into a system not really suitable for our home. I followed Dampco recommendation and it made a huge difference!
They also were not lying when they told me survey is free of charge!
Highly recommended!

Our house was at risk of serious structural damage due to dry rot. Dampco came out & diagnosed the problem properly after another company misdiagnosed the problem. Thanks to Jack & his team we got the structure of our house saved at a fantastic price which was extremely welcoming at the time. Plus, the house was spotless when they left. True professionals & highly recommended.
