Carpets have been and still are the most common type of floor covering due to many practical reasons. People choose carpets over other floor coverings because of a number of reasons such as warmth, reduction of noise, easy maintenance, i.e. cleaning, and comfort. Choosing the right carpet for your home can be really daunting especially if you have no prior knowledge or experience.
Laminate flooring is a tough and durable man made floor coverings that is designed to look like and feel like wood flooring. It is essentially a multi-layer synthetic floor covering fused together through a lamination process. The main layer, i.e. the top layer, is a high definition photograph of your chosen effect, which is extremely detailed and looks very authentic.
Many of you might not have heard of LVT flooring due to the fact that it is the latest advancement in the flooring industry. LVT according to some is the complete flooring solution because it is durable, water resistant and can be fitting in all areas of the house. It is manufactured using multiple layers of PVC vinyl, which is mixed with numerous compounds to give it its hardness effect.
The term rugs are often used interchangeably with carpets mainly because most people cannot distinguish between the two. This is because in some countries both words are the same, and have no difference, where as in other countries they are two completely different terms. Carpet is a type of floor covering that is usually (fitted) wall-to-wall, whereas a rug is a type of floor covering that covers only a small area or a specific area.
The idea of artificial grass first arose in the early 1950s, but it was not until the early 1960s that it materialised and manufacturers started to produce it. The method of making artificial grass is the same as carpets, i.e. it is tufted. However the difference in raw materials used for artificial grass means it can be manufactured in different ways.
