Trojan Asphalt is a Brighton and Hove based family run flat roofing company with over 50 years experience in the business. We specialise in mastic asphalt flat roofing & built up felt roofing systems. Covering Sussex, London & the South East of England we offer a high standard of workmanship & take pride in every job we undertake.
Our proprietor Richard Mears started his mastic asphalt apprenticeship in 1964 at the age of 16 working with his uncle Angelo Damario for Chartives Asphalt. Then in 1966 he joined Briggs Amasco one of the biggest mastic asphalt companies in the world, working on some of the largest contracts throughout Sussex and the South East such as the original Churchill Square development, Sussex University & Portsmouth docks.
In 1977 he started his own mastic asphalt roofing business taking on contracts such as the Royal Pavilion Brighton, the platforms at Brighton Station, Arundel castle and many other major projects. In the early 90's he was joined by his two sons Daniel & Thomas who were fully trained in mastic asphalt and built up flat roofing.

Tom and Dan supplied and laid 3 coat IKO Britorch roofing system in grey, supplied and fixed plastic fascia and replaced all rotten wood on my flat garage roof. They juggled their pre-existing commitments in order to accommodate my urgent request and finished the work before the deadline. I found them honest, sincere and professional in their approach to everything - from the initial assessment of work to it’s cost and execution. I am pleased with the final result and have no hesitations in recommending Trojan Asphalt - Flat Roofing Specialists.

Great service from Richard, Tom and Dan. Tom came round on Wednesday to quote for a new porch roof (the old one was 20+ years old). By Friday lunchtime Tom and Dan had fitted a High Performance Felt roof and sorted out the lead flashing. Prompt efficient and a great job, thank you

Great service from the guys! Turned up to quote for our work on the same day we called them. Booked them in for the following week. Arrived on time and got straight to work stripping and repairing our flat roof asphalt and promenade tiles. Tom and Dan don't mess about and everything was done before lunchtime the following day. We're really happy with the work and I can't recommend them highly enough. Thanks guys!

Fantastic job. Pleasure to deal with. Highly recommended. Richard and Tom came round, were on time, great communication, got on with the job, did a fantastic finish on the roof and offered a 20 year guarantee. What more can you ask for. Tidy workers, thoughtful and did more than I had expected. Would definitely recommend them and use them again.

These guys are 100% !! Professional - considerate - efficient - tidy - they didn’t stop for lunch and brought their own tea !! Richard, Tom and Dan from Trojan Asphalt were fantastic. It was a pleasure to have them around and nothing was too much trouble. They worked tirelessly on our rotten roof during the most horrendous weather conditions. The job came in on time and budget and we are delighted with the result.
