Services
Following the initial enquiry Paul likes to visit the client to see where the intended piece of furniture is to be placed. This is useful in understanding not only the purpose of the piece but also the size and the surroundings it is to be placed within. It can then be designed to naturally fit in, as well as be made from complementary materials to its intended surroundings.
Paul offers a french polishing service for a wide range of furniture including pianos. A visit to the client is arranged to view the item and take photographs to enable a thorough estimate and a proposal to complete the work. Paul works closely with both insurance companies and loss-adjusters and can help in preparing a report including valuations and photographs.
A client in Chearsley, Buckinghamshire, requested a design for a bookcase and room divider using materials of Burr Elm and Macassar Ebony with glass and ebony display shelves. Superficial water marks were carefully removed with a french polish reviver and then burnished with bees wax. The original polish was damaged by fire and not restorable.
