We have a reputation for excellence in maintenance/repair. Boat building and classic restorations have been an important part of our business for many years.

Our team of experienced boat builders are skilled in all aspects of traditional wooden boatbuilding - design, hull construction, fine joinery work, finishing, restoration and brightwork. We are delighted to announce that the Elephant Boatyard has recently been selected to build the wonderfully elegant 'Eastport 32' for the UK and Europe.
Services
We are a family business that has the passion, expertise and desire to build beautiful boats. The sheer number of yachts we have built and restored is testament to both our reputation and our love of what we do. More than 65 custom yachts have been built by the yard since the 1960's, and we have restored countless others.
Nigel Irens is one of the world's leading designers of high performance yachts. He has an incredible portfolio which ranges from record-breaking yachts to innovative bespoke cruising designs (such as the one we are building at the moment). We have collaborated with Nigel for years, and our understanding runs deep.
We are proud to be one of the few remaining boatyards on the South Coast to have a dedicated team of skilled boat builders and shipwrights who can work on boats of all different sorts of construction - wood, GRP and steel. We also do in-depth work such as new engine / generator installation, replacment of water system pipework.
The Elephant Boatyard has been building custom sailing yachts since the 1960's. We specialise in building traditional, classic wooden boats and can build any design to individual / bespoke specifications.
We are specialists in refit and restoration, and work across all different kinds of boats, from cruising to racing, wooden to GRP, but our absolute passion is Classic Yachts. Our in-house team of boat builders are highly skilled at traditional and new working methods and take an immense pride in giving an old boat new life.

Excellent personal service - Matt and Beth swiftly came to our rescue, as our RIB had become swamped with water due to a faulty bilge pump and poor battery. The Elephant Boatyard team managed to get the half sunken RIB out of the water the same day as the issue was sighted, and drained.
Superb prompt service and very friendly - can’t recommend the yard highly enough…. Thanks team

The elephant was the only yard we considered for Musketeer. A close knit team for whom no request is too big or small. Loads of atmosphere in and around the yard and always someone on hand to either help with a request or problem or simply have a chat with. I cant think of a better place to spend a sunny evening on board with a glass in hand!

You can do all the jobs from lifting, anti-fouling, servicing engines, repairs without fuss and for great value-for -money. Having your boat cared for by a family business with generations' of experience is what makes the difference.

The Elephant was the obvious place to bring , when we brought her back to the Solent 5 years ago... After all they built her! It’s a sheltered oasis at the top of the hectic Hamble. A proper boatyard, full of interesting boats, that’s run by a friendly and knowledgable team. They’re still building new boats too, as well as maintaining a varied fleet of old and new.
