Having never employed an architect before, we were anxious about how our project would be handled by a professional used to dealing with much bigger developments and more expansive budgets. However, we were reassured by Giles Arthur's knowledgeable approach to our complicated problem and grateful for his patience in dealing with a pair of property renovation novices.
He suggested solutions which we could never have considered and was happy to take the time to explain each step of the process. Giles Arthur's involvement has given us confidence in progressing our plans and considerably eased our concerns about what is possible, and affordable. Giles Architecture have been brilliant in helping us realise the potential of our self build design.
With Giles' input, we have developed the concept into something we hadn't imagined and can't wait to build. Ever professional and takes time to understand our brief, we've no hesitation in recommending his services. Giles helped us to assess the potential of several building plots before we managed to buy the site where we eventually built.

Giles studied at The University of Edinburgh and qualified as an Architect in 2005. He worked as senior project architect for the conservation practice John Edwards Architects for 8 years before founding Giles Arthur Architects in 2004. Giles' interests are rooted in the architecture, geography and landscapes of Northumberland and the Borders.
Our proposed replacement eco-house overlooking Thrunton Woods near Whittingham has just been granted planning consent and is due on site later this year. To take advantage of the open views and sunpaths of this south facing site, we have arranged all habitable rooms to have a southern aspect from floor to ceiling windows and high levels of solar gain for passive heating.
