Both granite and quartz can be beautiful additions to your kitchen, but they are very different materials. Both can be used as the basic material for worktops which are resistant to stains and scratches, but they do have several differences. Granite is a natural stone that comes straight out of the earth, and quartz is engineered, or "man-made".

Quartz is the second most abundant mineral in the Earth's continental crust, after feldspar. There are many different varieties of quartz, several of which are semi-precious gemstones. Although the quartz is composed mainly of all-natural quartz crystals, it is engineered to produce a final product that changes in appearance, consistency and colour depending on the resins, as well as, other components which are combined with the quartz.
