John Bullock Design is a dedicated and award-winning architectural practice working on projects throughout the South East and London. Established in 2003, we seek to create beautiful, unique buildings and spaces which are site specific and most importantly fulfil our clients' brief. The original house was constructed as a modest dwelling for a farm worker and restricted with an agricultural occupancy condition.
The house was later upgraded in the 1980s but was poorly designed and sat uncomfortably within its grounds. Our scheme sought to rectify this and create a country house worthy of its location. Taking a holistic approach and using a design inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement and in particular Phillip Webbs, Standen House.
The site originally comprised a modest 1950s bungalow which sat on the roadside and to the front of its large plot. Our scheme sought to create a generous country family house centrally located within its grounds and taking the form of a traditional and evolved Sussex farmhouse.
