3 - 4 weeks prior - If you are obtaining several quotations for your move, be sure that each firm is quoting for the same type of service for a fair comparison. A list is taken by our surveyor of the items to be moved from your home. This is the safest way to ensure that both parties know what is to go and that when you get the quotation it details the service you require.
It is your personal responsibility to notify the local authority of the area you are leaving as well as the area you are moving to, including the date of the move and whether you rent or own the property. Contact your electricity supplier to inform them that you are moving home. On your completion day you may need to take your meter readings and inform your supplier of these.
