Services
We are an award winning practice specialising in the design of low energy, low environmental impact buildings, cost effectively and to the highest quality standards. ECD clients encompass local authorities and government departments, housing associations and developers, charitable trusts, public and private companies.
ECD Architects have embraced the Passivhaus approach, and its factual standard based on building physics, due to its 20-year track record and proven accuracy. Passivhaus buildings provide a high level of occupant comfort while using very little energy for heating and cooling. They are built with meticulous attention to detail, and rigorous design and construction.
ECD Architects has been a pioneer in Sustainable Design for 40 years. Our objective is to design high quality sustainable buildings that have a positive impact on their community and their environment. Sustainability is integrated into our designs from concept through to completion, and we make sure this is reviewed with dedicated checklists at every RIBA work stage.
Our qualified Retrofit Coordinators, Retrofit Assessors and Retrofit Designers have the skills and experience necessary to enable our clients to achieve full compliance under PAS 2035. The UK Government has identified the retrofit of buildings as a key lever in their low carbon strategy to achieve 68% carbon reduction by 2030.
We have extensive regeneration experience including the refurbishment of over 50 residential towers. As such, our team has a strong track record and deep understanding of the issues involved in undertaking high rise refurbishment projects which address the fire safety issues arising from external wall systems as well as improving the thermal efficiency of buildings.
