The practice was originally set up in 1945 by Anthony Swaine, renowned Conservation Architect. Anthony Swaine Architecture Ltd was established by David Stere, who trained under Anthony Swaine and Clive Bowley, former Principal Conservation Officer at Canterbury City Council, to continue the traditions of the practice.
The Practice operates out of offices within one of the bastion towers that once formed part of the medieval City walls of the City of Canterbury. The practice prides itself on the quality of drawings it produces for planning designs, historic detailing and construction details.

The Directors, David Stere and Clive Bowley have long experience in Architectural and Conservation field and manages the practice of 7 staff. David Stere Director, has worked at the practice since qualifying in 2003. He is involved in all aspects of architectural design and specialises in the construction process, project management and 3D visualisation.
