Wood Inspires

Working with cedar, oak, yew, pine and sometimes with other materials such as polished granite, Nick is a skilled craftsman who can create several types of furniture. Specialising in working with the unique shape and characteristics of the wood, he creates bespoke designs to work in conjunction with clients desires and the natural qualities of the material.

Nick's goal is take this ethos further - to create furniture that is beautiful and engineered for function, keeping the story of the material in each piece. The design of the piece meets the client's specifications while revealing as much of the story of the tree. Nick seeks to work along with the natural characteristics of the wood, and designs are amended to respond to this.

A colourless oil finish that soaks into the surface of the wood provides a finish that enhances the appearance and protects while still allowing you to touch the grain of the wood. Alternatively an acrylic varnish gives a wipe-clean surface, without changing the natural colours of the wood.
