Since our company's inception over 40 years ago, it has been owned and run by the Hackworthy family. Today 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation family members work alongside each other building a business that has the ethos of a small independent enterprise but with the capabilities that would match many national corporations.
Hackworthy's is a family-owned business, established in 1972. Now run by second and third generation family members, we've grown to be one of the largest independent removal companies in the South West. Founded by Ron Hackworthy, the company was originally set up as a parcel carrier firm but soon diversified into moving new furniture and from there to carrying out removals.
We are a family run, locally based company and one of the South Wests leading independent removal companies. For over 40 years we have been carrying out local, national and overseas relocations for personal and business clients. Great emphasis is put on customer satisfaction. We know that choosing a removal company can be a headache and that's why at Hackworthys our aim is to make the choice easy for you.
We aim to provide exceptional value for each of our customers by offering professional and helpful support before, during, and after each removal. If you're planning on doing your own packing, we advise you start two weeks before your move. Use this opportunity to de-clutter and get rid of items you don't need or use anymore. Have used before, am using again. Secure, dry storage with easy access and pleasant service. Update, as we took out our stored goods on a Saturday morning we noticed the roof had been leaking (repairs were under way and that might have been the cause). By the time we had investigated we were 3 minutes late trying to leave and found ourselves locked in by the automatic system. 45 freezing minutes later we were released by the member of staff who simply didn't get why were annoyed that we had not been picked up on the multiple security cams. Not happy at the casual attitude, or the leak.

We had a short date to organise our move. Gave them the details. We then waited for a week to get a survey out to assess our move. On that day the guy assured us he would hold the dates we needed as they were very busy & not to worry. It then took a further two days to get the quote. I rang them back immediately to confirm the move and was told that the dates we had ‘booked’ were taken and there was no way they could move us in time. Very unhelpful guy in the phone who clearly didn’t care we had been let down.

Great service, the three guys Aaron,Corey and Paul were a credit to the company they work for. They were excellent in moving us to day, turned up on time and loaded the van with nothing to much for them. Unloaded the other end again with pure professionalism again nothing to much trouble and once unloaded again asked if we wanted anything repositioning Would definitely use Hackworthy again and again, A1 service

How would you feel if a removal company arrived in your road (a single track) and started packing the homeowner's belongings into boxes whilst they continued to block your road for the four days it took. Rejecting suggestions that they could pack and store the boxes and bring the lorry to the address at the end of each day. Would that be an ok scenario? I don't think so. The Manager was not at all interested in any objections and for that I rate him less than 1 star. Not to mention the rudeness of the staff!

They ripped me off by £800 they asked me to give my credit card details. I said there is no point I do not have my moving date from my solicitor yet. They replied we won't use it it is only on standby incas you want to use us. It's a credit card we can't take your money if we did you would get it back. I was foolish to believe them I did give them my number but said I wasn't that happy to go with them as they never even came to my home. They just asked what have other companies said you need? Right after I felt it was wrong. I called the bank they said they had taken over £1000 from my credit

I advise potential customers to steer well clear of this company. I bought a sofa from Dingles,Plymouth and Dingles use this company as a delivery agent. In brief the company promised phone calls that weren't returned , promised on or before delivery times were not met without explanation or update and when querying this with the company I was told on different occasions that not one of their staff would have either promised a return call or an on or before delivery time ( implying that I was lying). Shocking customer service and would have rated a zero if I had the opportunity.
