Chameleon specialises in wooden windows restoration. We combine premium materials and a love of both traditional and pioneering wooden windows restoration methods. Our skilled team of craftsmen can repair your rotten wooden window frames, replace rotten sash windows sills and have them looking good as new once again.
Repairing wooden frames is an essential step in window renovation that can be done prior or together with other services. With regular timber frame maintenance, your windows can be fully functioning for many decades. We can also repair windows that you may think are not repairable, which make our service a great alternative to window replacement.
We also believe that window restoration is better for the planet and is a more sustainable choice. We work with windows in Grade 2 listed properties as well old windows in regular buildings. For your peace of mind, our timber frame repairs come with a guarantee. Rotted frames or cracked paint may not affect your immediate comfort as much as stuck sash or sash that does not stay open or closed due to failed mechanisms.

Acrylic filler (often referred to as decorators caulk, painters caulk or decorators acrylic) is a water-based economical and environmentally friendly sealing and filling material. Acrylic filler, when cured, offers flexibility and elasticity that allow for movement, therefore stopping cracks from reappearing.
We, Britons, love our heritage and try to preserve it at all costs. Traditional wooden windows, be it Georgian or Victorian sash windows, intricate casement windows and sliding windows are true gems of British architecture. Like all wooden items, they need special attention and good care. Because windows are exposed to elements, their life span can become short without proper attention and protection.

Chameleon have been brilliant. We wanted to renovate or repair our huge Georgian sash windows, and had a number of quotes from different companies, most of which involved replacing the windows with standard slim-line double glazing.
I was initially sceptical about the Landvac glass and the system used (a single pane with glazing bars in front) but Alex brought a sample window which looked great. In the end we decided to go with Chameleon largely based on the Landvac glass (especially the thermal benefits, as we have such large windows, the very long guarantee on the glass, and the reinforced glass important as we have two young boys and I am sure they will need to withstand footballs in due course). Additionally, we (and the conservation officer) liked the fact we would essentially be repairing rather than replacing the windows, the cost included painting, and was guaranteed for much longer than any competitors.
There was a 3-month lead time for the windows which was a bit disappointing but is probably little different from anyone else.
The team started at beginning of February and renovated 12 windows in 10 days. They worked really hard, including Saturday and Sunday, through some pretty miserable weather. They were clean and courteous, tidied up afterwards each day.
The windows look gorgeous. There are tiny spacers on the windows only visible to closest inspection, and a couple of times in the mornings the windows insulate so well that there is condensation on the outside, which is slightly odd, but it disappears very quickly.
We're very pleased indeed - will definitely be using Alex and the Chameleon team to do the remaining windows for Phase 2!
