Ian always aims to provide great value for money whilst sourcing the best quality materials. When you're ready to go ahead, Ian can get to work sourcing your timber and creating your piece. After acquiring a small 6 board log of burr elm I chose the 3 most detailed burr boards.
I decided the only way to create the top without losing any of the natural beauty of the boards was to try to achieve a top with natural joints instead of a mechanical, clean straight glue joint, which would have lost some of the character of the wane edge and the pure burr running through it.
The client's project brief was to design and build a complete new locking room for the upper half of the signal box which was located in his yard at Hardingham in Norfolk.Months of research and planning between the client and myself went into the project, referencing original drawings and photographs.

Ian was college trained as a furniture and cabinet maker and after qualifying has gained well over 25 years experience working in the furniture and allied trades. Much of Ian's work over the years has been destined for clients in the Middle East, Japan and North America. He has a wealth of experience in designing and crafting fine woodwork by hand in all styles and finishes ranging from Period through to Contemporary.
