SAUNDERS MORGAN HARRIS Ltd is an international surveying company which thrives on supporting both private and industry clients with technical consultancy for marine craft. The company was founded by Duncan Saunders & Hugo Morgan-Harris in 2005 and since then has undertaken more than 3000 instructions.
Starting out from traditional roots in the surveying industry SMH ltd have become specialists in Loss Adjusting, New Build projects, restorations and NDT (non destructive testing). Their principal surveyors are level 2 ultrasound and visual weld inspectors, making an ideal platform for damage inspections and new build projects.
The company has completed 500 metres of new build projects within the last 5 years alone. New build projects are commonly carried out for private owners & Captains on both semi production & bespoke builds within the UK & Worldwide. SMH are also nominated on behalf of the MCA to undertake commercial code of practice surveys for vessels with a load line under 24M and currently have with a combined client base of over 300 vessels.

Since 2005 Saunders Morgan Harris has been working with Owners, Brokers and Distributors to ensure that the vessel they are building, or having refitted, is completed to specification, performs as intended and is of the best quality possible. We work closely with the Yard, Owners and their Captain and Crew from the very start of the project right through to acceptance and beyond.

Both Hugo Morgan-Harris and Duncan Saunders have trained to use specialist NDT equipment and have passed Level 1 & 2 Exams in Ultrasound and Thermal Imaging. Ultrasound can be used in several key areas, more normally when looking at the thickness of a hull/ mast or any other FRP skin. Ultrasound is also ideal for inspecting hulls for damage, such as delamination/ deep cracks or viods within an FRP laminate.
