Services
It's usually only after an offer has been made that people start to worry about the state of the roof, the windows, or possible structural defects. It's not just older houses - new houses can have defects as well. What you want to know is: what are the major problems? How urgently do they need to be solved?

Report
I had a very similar experience as the review below. Mortimer & Carey significantly undervalued my shared ownership flat by approx £25,000. I queried it straight away and they would not respond to calls or emails for a fortnight. When I provided evidence of sale prices of similar properties in my area, they adjusted the valuation report, upping the price by £25,000. They have refused to apologise, reimburse or compensate me for the I paid £270 for the valuation. I was hugely disappointed by their service and I would advise for anyone to steer clear.

I would stear clear of this company. I had a valuation carried out as a shared owner last year. The property was incredibly overvalued, to the point where I had to challenge it and 'remarkably' 20k was shaved off the the value when I provided sales figures that could not be disputed (prior to this they maintained they were correct on their valuation). Regardless I have recently had the property revalued and they surveyer was shocked that even with the reduced valuation that figure was given. My proposed mortgage company were also surprised with the previous valuation.
I will be raising this with
