The Dirty Bottles is an iconic freehouse pub set in Alnwick, in the heart of rural Northumberland. But far from your traditional small town pub, The Dirty Bottles look, feels and tastes different to anything else in Northumberland. Our pub & rooms have recently enjoyed an extensive refurbishment, combining the history & heritage of our wonderful centuries old pub, with a modern contemporary feel.

As part of that, we've also reinvigorated our menu giving it a modern, fresh feel, with a host of new dishes alongside all your favourite pub classics, with a renewed focus on 'free-from' dishes for those of you with special dietary needs. The Dirty Bottles - or as the locals in Alnwick, Northumberland say it 'Thi Dorty Bottles' - pub has been open for over two centuries and the building is thought to have been constructed in the 1600's.

We've launched our new for 2020 menu, with some fabulous new additions along with all of your favourite Dirty Bottles classics, such as our Smokehouse, build your own burger and our famous sharing platters. All our dishes are prepared on site using fresh, locally sourced ingredients by our team of experienced chefs and mixologists.

Whether it's a quiet pint you're after or a few cocktails with the girls, you'll find it at The Dirty Bottles. We've been a public house for over two centuries, so we know how to do it! We've a wide range of your favourite cocktails, and a selection of Dirty Bottles originals for you to choose from.

Available to book online. We have an award winning restaurant & bar, offering both contemporary & traditional cuisines & drinks. Booking is advised. Alnwick Castle is on our doorstep, with Alnwick Gardens & Treehouse & Barter Books a short walk away. In the 15th Century King Henry VI gave Alnwick permission to build a wall to help protect from attacking Scots.

We are delighted to announce that, after a few weeks hard work in refurbishing, updating and expandi. We've been working tirelessly on our latest phase of work on our fantastically quirky 400 + year old. We were very proud indeed to be announced as a finalist in the great British pub awards for best fre.

Food and service here is still outstanding since the new menu. The renovation is simply gorgeous and we were lucky enough to get the table next to the log burner.
Staff are very helpful and friendly.
Dinner was delicious. Still can't get over the burnt ends!
Definitely recommend.

Great little place, bedrooms lovely, loved the vinyl players, bedrooms clean, noisy bathrooms but old building, very cool boutique vibes. Definitely will be back, breakfast delicious and cocktails fabulous, fab little bar at nighttime, can’t hear from room though which is great, recommend

Every time we come here we love the food and the service. Come hungry because they serve up huge portions of tasty food. Today I ordered 2 sides - Mac & Cheese and Sticky Smoked in house Pit Beans. More than enough food and it was extremely tasty. My wife and daughter ordered (the best!) Sweet potato fries and Pea & Spinach Croquettes.

We had a delicious lunch here. There is a full vegan menu (though only one dessert option) and everything was clearly made from scratch, with care and deliciously fresh ingredients. The mains portions are huge - American-sized for sure, so I would recommend sharing if you want room for dessert and/or starter. I will be happy to go back again before leaving Alnwick.

We popped into this lovely pub for lunch. It is the first time we have visited but we certainly weren't disappointed. We ordered light bite baguettes, which were very generous portions. The drinks were also reasonably priced and local. We will definitely return.

Visited twice over the weekend. Lovely pub food looked great but had already eaten.
Had a mix of cocktails and all were very tasty, well presented and a great price.
Definitely will return to try the rest of the list!

Super trendy eating establishment, the fires had just been lit and it was very welcoming. We both had steak and it was delicious, great portions and tasty. We were allowed to bring the dog in too - so top marks!

Stayed here for one night with my partner and we had a fantastic time. The interiors in the room were delightful and the place was sparkling clean. We also enjoyed our dinner and breakfast here as well. Highly recommend. Great location as well and the staff were super friendly!

Recently spent 3 nights here. Room was lovely very spacious & warm. Enjoyed having Netflix also. Food in bar was delicious & breakfast each day also high standard. Staff friendly & enjoyed a gin in front of the fire after a coastal walk. Will return. Thanks

Absolutely superb, first time here and had a great lunch. Went for the 2 meat and 2 sides for £12 and what a deal if was!! 😀. The quality of the food was superb as was the quantity. Add in, great customer service from the servers, atmosphere and decor and you have all the ingredients for a place I would highly recommend a visit to.

What a great little find this was. Visiting Alnwick for the day today with husband, daughter who is vegan and, 6 year old grandson ( not forgetting Daisy dog). Staff were brilliant as was the food.Excellent menu to suit all members of the party. Very tasty and well cooked food, excellent value for money with generous portions and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
