Fairburns Group Ltd is a private owned Electrical - Mechanical engineering SME established in the late 1940's. The company has grown from its support services origins to a specialist electrical company providing a wide range of electrical mechanical services to the construction, commercial, marine and manufacturing industries.
As power factor drops the system becomes less efficient. A drop from 1.0 to 0.9 results in 15% more current is required for the same load. A power factor 0.85 requires approximately 25% more current to handle the same load. The objective, therefore, should be to reduce the reactive power drawn from the supply by improving the power factor.
Emergency lighting is a mandatory requirement where people are employed and artificial lighting is used. BS 5266 / Part 1 provides detailed guidance on where luminaries should be installed and the minimum levels of illumination for escape routes and open areas, together with the minimum period of lamination duration of the luminary after failure of normal lighting.
