Protreat Preservation
Called Protreat out for a quotation. I was called in advance and then owner Dave came out on time and met me at the property. Dave was honest with me that the work wouldn't be required and advised us on what to do to solve it without a professional being required - Honesty is always appreciated as rare these days and the company were great with their punctuality and communication as mentioned.

Have used Protreat twice now & can highly recommend. Dave was professional, approachable & reliable. He also looked at (& fixed) an unrelated issue. Mel replied promptly to any correspondence, & the 2 workmen were efficient & hard working. Started when agreed & finished within the time scale suggested.

Very positive experience. Free site survey showing what was needed and why, followed by a very reasonable quote - did what they said when they said and provided a great experience from first phone call to the completion of the job! Wouldn't hesitate to use again. We have had a leak in our home for some time that we were unaware of.
Services
Protreat Preservation Ltd is your local property preservation experts based in Halifax and Huddersfield, we also cover Bradford, Leeds, OL Postcodes too. Our surveying staff are fully qualified and have over 25 years' experience within the industry. We carry out inspections on all types of properties from historical buildings, churches, housing stock to commercial and private housing.
In today's world, the requirement for extra space has often become essential. Extending your home can be expensive, time-consuming, and nearly always requires planning permission, which can be difficult to obtain. Many building owners opt to boost living or working space by means of an extension, but whilst this gives you more space internally, valuable external space is lost.
The morjority of building materials which are used for walls are porus which will absorb water if in contact. Even against gravity water can rise up the small holes called pores or capilaries within the wall structure from the wet ground below, creating rising damp, this process will carry soluable ground salts (chlorides & nitrates) from the ground up into the wall and contaminating the wall plaster, if present.
This problem is being found to trouble more and more occupants as a result of the modernization of properties that originally had adequate natural ventilation i.e. Condensation does not in itself cause damage to the structure of the building. It can, however, be aggravated by water ingress from other building defects.
Cavity wall ties were first introduced in the early 20th century to provide insulation and protection from dampness due to water ingress. These ties fixed the inner and outer skins of wall together, however due to the ties being made from iron they would corrode and expand, causing horizontal and stepped cracking within the masonry.

Positive: Responsiveness
The service and care from protreat has been fantastic. I would like to say huge thank you to Dave and the team for helping us and understanding the effect not having the work done would have had on our move. I wish everyone well for the future and thank you for all your hard work.

So firstly, they visited our house on a few different occasions (once for a different job relating to woodworm activity and then twice more regarding requirements for tanking, due to rising damp) and each time, they offered honest advice about what was needed (and relating to the woodworm, they confirmed that what we were already doing was sufficient; this gave me confidence that they weren't just looking to take money from us for unnecessary work). There were several communications required before they came to do the work (lots of emails, phone calls due to the nature of the work - kitchen had

Positive: Professionalism
ProTreat have done a great job on damp proofing a shower-room for me. The initial quote was clear and well explained; the actual work was done professionally and on time. Jack and Ryan, who carried out the work, were pleasant, hard working and made a real effort to keep mess to a minimum. Highly recommended.

Extremely professional company - I would definitely recommend.
I contacted Mel at Protreat with a potential damp query after my property had been tanked 6 years ago. Protreat visited my property within a few days and thoroughly checked that no damp was present.
Protreat advised that the issue was related to a condensation problem caused by a ventilation issue and suggested contacting an engineer to install a mechanical trickle vent.
In addition to this, Protreat emailed me their full report which detailed all their findings from their visit.
Couldn’t recommend highly enough. They have given

We have been really pleased with the work Protreat have done for us. A dark, damp, miserable cellar has been converted into a fantastic living space. From start to finish the company and all of the staff have been excellent. At the very first meeting, their professional surveyor Dave listened to everything we wanted to achieve and gave valuable advice and ideas. Protreat didn't shy away from the difficult aspects of the job, such as removing the old stone staircase, which other companies had refused to do. They even came back and requoted when we had new ideas. We had some problems with the people

We have had a leak in our home for some time that we were unaware of. We were concerned it had caused timber damage. We contacted Protreat to which we spoke to a lovely lady who reassured that someone would come out straight away. That same day Dave came . He did a very detailed check of our timbers and found no work was needed. He also said any further concerns we had to just call and he would come out again. There was no charge for him coming out and for any further checks if needed. What a fantastic service from a local company. Thank you and would highly recommend Protreat.
