Services
With the value of land, particularly in city centres, so high and the ensuing need to maximise developments, it is not surprising that disputes can occur, often over the smallest difference as to the exact position of a boundary. In residential situations, disputes can occur over the position of hedges, open plan estates with restrictive covenants that prevent the erection of fences, or new neighbours with plans for extensions.
Our surveyors have many years' experience in the assessment of commercial buildings, having worked for a large number of London's largest property investor clients. These instructions may be for institutional investors wishing to add a property to their portfolio, for purchasers of a freehold interest, or for potential tenants proposing to take a new lease on a full repairing basis.
The original firm of W.G. Edwards was established in 1947 and we have been surveying residential property ever since. We will inspect all parts of a house or flat with a twelve-foot ladder, including a limited assessment of the age and condition of the service plant. We can usually survey a property within one week of instruction.
We cannot overemphasise the importance of a properly prepared set of documents prior to obtaining prices and carrying out building work. Whether your intention is to construct a new house or commercial building, to embark on a programme of repair or to alter the property you own, your interest is best protected by having a comprehensive set of drawings and a detailed specification.
It is surprising how few tenants think about having a survey of a property carried out before they sign a lease. The repairing covenants are likely to require a tenant to hand a property back to the landlord at the end of the lease in no worse repaired condition than when he took it. Often the exact wording of the lease is significant.

After hiring this firm thinking i was in good hands turned out I was paying for lack of experience, lack of current knowledge with councils and lack of technical thinking to compete with other knowledgeable surveyors. Outdated reports written do not help under any circumstance especially in the field of lofts and extensions. For checks, they have no technological equipment to carry out checks on leaks and damps. The rates suit different clients depending on the size of the job. Please be careful before giving them business.

I used this firm to prepare drawings for a loft conversion and ground floor rear extension. The main reason I used their services was for there advertised knowledge in this field. They failed on three attempts and the planning Department actually said to me that they was not preparing the drawings inline with the Councils policy and therefore demonstrated that there knowledge in this field was in fact very poor at best. After the third failed attempt, I complained due incompetence and requested my initial fee to be returned. My complaint was met with its not our fault and they tried to blame me
