When it comes to residential homes and care homes, the onus is on the landlord or owner of the property to ensure that all the necessary checks are carried out regularly. In fact residential home gas safety checks should be every 12 months, minimum. If you are a landlord then you should be aware already that it is a legal requirement of UK law to make sure that this is done.
If you are the owner of a Commercial kitchen then it is your responsibility to ensure that regular commercial gas safety checks are carried out on the system and that it remains safe. You must also make sure that there are records of the maintenance. Any failures to a commercial kitchen ventilation system carries a significant health and safety risk.
For anyone that operates a Commercial Kitchen you should be aware that your gas equipment and installation falls under the legislation of GSIUR (Gas Safety Installation and Use Regulations). These have existed since 1998 and it is now widely accepted that any portable catering units are liable under the same category.

Terrible ! The owner was rude and told me to get someone else.
I made appointment before Christmas to deal with 2 dripping taps. I waited an hour which was agreed.
No-one turned up at the appointment time so I phoned. ....An abrupt "Hello" and a pause. I was polite wishing the man A Happy New Year.
The owner, I presume, had no recollection of the appointment but finally checked his paperwork, I was due to have a named gentleman..."He's on another job..... I pointed out how long I had been waiting.... further conversation took place but finally I was interrupted by the owner saying very abruptly
