After gaining experience in another field when he left school in 1983, Paul couldn't resist the call of the family business. He joined in 1984 to work alongside his father David, the then second generation owner. The factory floor was Paul's starting point learning to weld the manhole covers that were, at the time, supplied to many of the country's water authorities.

A while later Paul's great love was making incinerators and dustbins. Having worked around every area of the factory Paul has amassed detailed knowledge of all sections of the business and its products. He was jointly responsible with his brother Anthony for introducing bespoke wrought iron style gates and railings to the Brettell Brothers portfolio.

With a keen eye for detail and a love of working with our retail customers Paul is always personally involved in their projects from the start, bringing designs to life right through to installation on site. Anthony left school in 1984 and went straight into the family business working on the factory floor.
Services
If you would like to visit our factory to see the quality and attention to detail of our products being crafted you can contact us in a number of ways to arrange an appointment. The following order guidelines apply to order placed through both Brettell Brothers Ltd and our mail order company Gates Railings Direct. When you place your order we will let you know how long it will take to make your products. Availability of the components required to create your design, for example some bespoke designs may require hand forged components and these are special order items with our foundry supplier.
There are times when we all need to blow our own trumpet and we think that talking about quality and craftsmanship is one such occasion. Delivering excellent quality of products and services to our customers is something we are very good at. Our customers have told us so, many times.
Our products are crafted with a care that is not frequently seen these days. If you are thinking of investing in ironworks we would welcome the opportunity to show you our products being made. You will then have the opportunity to see the attention to detail that we pay to each piece of work during our manufacturing processes before you make that important purchasing decision.
Juliette Balconies (also known as Juliet Balconies), are faux balconies that provide a guard rail but no walk-on facility. They are not only functional but also provide decorative interest across a French window or door of an upper floor. Balustrades, decorative railing mounted across the front of a balcony or gallery, provide a walk on space.

Fantastic from start to finish!
Had a custom fence designed, built and installed in a timely manner, mess free with no faults or excuses! Paid a fair price and had a top job, well done to all at this company and be assured I have no problems in writing up a bad review but no need this time! 👏

We ordered some grilles for our French house windows some time ago. Brettell brothers made them to my design. They were quickly produced, galvanized and were very competitively priced. 5 years later, there is no sign of rusting and they still look great.

I bought 5 tin baths from Brettell Brothers unfortunately the delivery driver dropped these outside my house and they are now dented. I am waiting for an official reply. ( Note the driver scribbled 'received in good order on the delivery note' )
