We've been trading since 2000, and sustainability is at the heart of all we do. Our expertise is energy-efficient construction, with many years experience under our toolbelts. We have gathered a reliable team who enjoy working together and are passionate about our ethos. Integrity and quality are vital to the success of any project, and we understand the importance of building good relationships, based on honesty and clear communication.
Richard's background is in civil engineering, environmental consultancy and carpentry. He built his first timber framed house for himself in 1999 and has never looked back. When not at work or with his family, Richard can be found tinkering in his workshop being creative or cycling over the nearest hill.
Henry completed a degree in 3D Design in 2003, then worked full time in traditional Oak Frame carpentry. Joining Greenheart as a carpenter in 2007, he moved into site management and then, with an eye on steering Greenheart towards the current Design & Build model, studied Architectural Technology at UWE.

We love what we do - the union of design and construction, the attention to detail on paper and on site, the satisfaction we bring, the relationships we make, the knowledge we gain and share, the results we achieve. Sustainable development may sound like an oxymoron, but we believe it is possible if we really consider the impacts of a building; from cradle to grave.
Embarking on the journey to build your own home can be a daunting prospect. Follow each step below to see how we can help you realise your project; offering design, guidance and cost control from start to finish. Before any design work begins, a site visit is arranged to discuss the scheme and an Initial Site Appraisal produced.
If you want to make your dream home as sustainable as possible then Passivhaus (or Passive House) is something Greenheart have over 20 years experience in. We offer a level of Passivhaus standard with all our new buildings, with many of our eco-buildings in Bristol and surrounding areas have achieved official passivhaus certification.
We instil an ethos of 'do it right, do it once' to ensure high quality, efficient buildings that meets the appropriate design standards. We have a reliable core team who carry out the main aspects of a new build project. By creating a supportive and positive working environment for our team, they are happier and more efficient.
We can carry out all aspects of a construction project from demolition to finishing. We can adapt to many methods of construction, but we have been honing our own efficient and sustainable approach for many years. We like to build with sustainably-sourced timber and use WARMCELL insulation made from 100% recycled newsprint.

We chose Greenheart, not because they were the cheapest, but because we liked their approach, their way of working and how they employ their people. We were proved right in our assessment!
The build process was complicated with a total refurbishment followed by a large extension which was interrupted by Covid. Greenheart managed our expectations pretty well over the period and we really got on well with the people who worked on our building. They put a huge amount of effort in to deliver the right level of quality in a managed timescale and we are really pleased with the finished product.

From first meeting Richard we felt we could work with Greenheart. The team were friendly and easy to get on with, consulting us at every stage. The house was pretty much completed according to the schedule first drawn up, with great efficiency in terms of project management. Probably most important however was the quality of the build - we are so pleased with our new home, with all its eco features.

Greenheart built a 3 storey, side extension for us 8 years ago and we are still as delighted with it now as we were when it was completed, within the time frame we'd asked for and within our ballpark budget. While some construction companies seem to quote unrealistically low, we found it very reassuring that we felt we knew where we are at each step of the process. The most striking thing about working with Greenheart is what a collaborative project it was - between us and them, and between all those involved in the construction, working with and for Greenheart. Even when there were difficult problems

Our Greenheart Experience
We knew nothing about building a new house, and it became clear that we had little idea as to the range and sheer quantity of decisions we would be required to make. And each of those decisions had implications for decisions already made and yet to come!
Fortunately we had an experienced team: an project manager well established as an interior designer, an architect experienced in imaginative and unusual projects, and Greenheart, an eco home-building group.
I think it is impossible to say just how much the Greenheart team helped shape a traumatic building project into
